A Nutritionist Tells How Tomatoes Can Be Dangerous for the Body

In addition, expert Maria Rozanova recommended buying tomatoes in trusted certified stores and eating only ripe fruits.

Eating tomatoes containing heavy metal salts can lead to poisoning, kidney stones, and coma. This was stated by the famous nutritionist Maria Rozanova.

She argues that tomatoes are grown near the road or near chemical plants can cause serious health damage, as tomatoes growing near such places accumulate heavy metal salts in the fruit.

Rozanova also noted that unripe tomatoes are also dangerous. According to the nutritionist, they contain a toxic chemical compound called solanine. However, the expert considers it unlikely that unripe fruit will cause poisoning.

“If, for example, we imagine theoretically that a huge amount of unripe tomatoes are processed for juice, for paste, they will contain a large amount of a poisonous dose for the body. Then you can fall into a coma,” Rozanova said.

In addition, the expert recommended buying tomatoes in trusted certified stores, eating only ripe fruits, and washing vegetables thoroughly, and peeling them.
