Can I dry clothes on the radiator – arguments “against”
Drying things on the radiator is rather impossible than possible. There are several reasons why you should not do so.
- Reason 1: fungi and mold growth
During the heating season, bacteria have a feast: the house is aired less often, the air becomes drier because of the working batteries, and the walls are poor and slow to dry. And if you hang wet things on the radiator and thus increase the humidity, you’ve got the perfect environment for mold and mildew.
Also, additional humidity can cause such a disease as aspergillosis – it is difficult to breathe, coughing, and irritation of the mucous membranes.
- Reason 2: Dust mites multiply and powder evaporates
Drying things on the radiator in the bedroom is categorically impossible. The fact is that the warm, humid air promotes the active reproduction of dust mites. And they, happily, begin to master your pillows, blankets, and blankets.
In addition, drying on the radiator evaporates detergent residues from washed clothes (even after a good rinse). Allergy sufferers and asthmatics should not breathe this stuff. If neither of the first two methods is suitable, then so be it: put a clothes dryer in the room. Try to air it from time to time to avoid excessive humidity. Also, things on the dryer are better to dry near a window – so it gets some sunlight.
You can also use a fan – the circulating air will help clothes to dry. And one more thing: wash and dry clothes in small batches – this way they dry faster.
