How to Soften Rough and Dry Skin on the Hands: 7 Simple Folk Recipes

Rough, dry, and cracked skin on the hands is very uncomfortable. Hands can become rough from hard physical work, cold dry air, or simply with age. You can make your hands smooth and soft without expensive creams – folk medicine offers many remedies. It is recommended to do these procedures for the best effectiveness at night.

How to soften the skin on the hands of vegetable oils

Vegetable oil quickly and effectively softens the skin of the hands, as well as nourishes and protects the hands from frost in winter. For this, you can use any vegetable oil: olive oil, linseed oil, almond oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, or aloe vera oil. For greater efficiency, you can add lemon juice, sugar, or any moisturizer to the oil.

It is recommended to heat the oil before rubbing it into the skin. To do this, it can be poured into a small bowl and held over a water bath. After this, soaked in warm oil gauze and wrap your hands. Put disposable gloves on top of the gauze and wait for 20 minutes. Then hands are washed with hot water.

Another way to soften the skin on the hands is to rub warm oil into the skin on the hands, fingers, palms, and near the nails in a circular motion until the oil is absorbed.

How to soak the skin on the hands with oatmeal

A mask of oatmeal flakes will steam your hands, making your skin soft and moisturized. Like other procedures, this one is recommended to perform at night. For this, boil oatmeal and wait until it cools to a comfortable temperature for the skin. Add a couple of spoonfuls of oil to the porridge and dip your hands into the oatmeal. Let it soak for 20 minutes. Then rinse hands with lukewarm water.

Softening Hand Bath with Baking Soda

Mix a tablespoon of baking soda, a teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, and a tablespoon of liquid soap. Pour a liter of warm water over the mixture. Dip your hands for 15 minutes in this bath, then wipe dry and lubricate with any moisturizing cream.

Healing hand bath with celandine

A bath of medicinal herbs heals cracks in the hands, relaxes, and relieves pain. This is a great remedy after a hard day with a lot of physical activity. Celandine is best for healing hands, but it can be replaced with dried chamomile or nettle.

Pour 2 tablespoons of crushed herbs into 500 ml of boiling water and leave to infuse for a few hours. Dip your hands for 15 minutes in a solution.

Honey and egg yolks mask for rough hands

A good way to soften and moisturize your hands is to apply a mask of honey and egg yolks. Whisk together 2 yolks and 4 tablespoons of thick honey. Apply this mixture to your hands and wear disposable gloves. Leave for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. It is recommended to repeat the procedure twice a week.

How to soften the skin on your hands with petroleum jelly

Normal petroleum jelly can be a substitute for expensive skin care and moisturizing products. Vaseline softens and moisturizes even the roughest skin. It is rubbed into the skin daily before going to bed, with clean hands.

Sugar scrub for rough skin on hands

Scrub with oil and sugar exfoliates the old layer of the epidermis, nourishes the skin, and protects against frost. Mix sugar and olive or sunflower oil in equal proportions to form a paste. Rub the mixture into your skin and leave for a few minutes. Rinse with warm water. You will notice that your hands will immediately become much softer.
