What to Drink for a Good Night’s Sleep: 6 Drinks with a Sedative Effect

Because of frequent stress and health problems, many Ukrainians complain of poor sleep. Regular air raids at night also interfere with sleep. To help your body fall asleep easier and sleep more soundly, drink a cup of a drink with a sleeping effect.

Chamomile Tea

The benefits of chamomile for the nervous system and sleep are well known. Such a drink not only relaxes and helps you sleep but also makes you healthier and improves your general well-being. To make the tea, pour boiling water over 2 tablespoons of apothecary chamomile and infuse for 10 minutes.

Note that chamomile tea should not be drunk with asthma.

Tea with mint

Peppermint in folk medicine is used to relieve fatigue and irritation, lower blood pressure and normalize blood sugar levels. All of these effects have a positive effect on the length and quality of sleep. Like chamomile tea, mint tea needs to be infused for 10 minutes. Also, the two plants can be combined.

Coconut water or coconut milk

Coconut liquid is high in vitamin B, which reduces stress levels and calms the nervous system. It is better to drink the drink at room temperature, as it is on the contrary invigorating when it is cold.

Cherry Juice

Cherry juice contains the amino acid tryptophan, which regulates the sleep hormone melatonin. A glass of cherry juice before going to bed is an excellent remedy for a sound sleep. But the juice of cherries is not suitable – it has 6 times less tryptophan.

Warm milk

Warm milk helps both adults and children fall asleep well, although scientists can’t pinpoint exactly what this has to do. Some researchers attribute it to the fact that warm milk, like cherry juice, contains tryptophan, which is good for sleep.

Yogurt

The natural sleeping aid tryptophan is also found in yogurt, so it’s a good idea to drink half a glass of drinkable yogurt 45 minutes before bedtime. The effect will be intensified if the yogurt has a banana filling, as the banana is also a natural sedative.
