Cooking Kohlrabi – You Should Keep This In Mind

Cooking kohlrabi: you should pay attention to that.

When buying kohlrabi you should already consider a few things:

  • The larger kohlrabi usually has woody spots and is, therefore, less suitable for cooking.
  • Make sure the vegetables have no cracks in the skin and still have fresh leaves.
  • You can also cook fresh kohlrabi with the skin on without any problems so that the valuable ingredients are not lost.

Cooking kohlrabi: this is how it works

You can prepare the kohlrabi in two ways in the pot.

  • To cook the kohlrabi whole, be sure to clean them thoroughly. Also, remove the leaves and roots.
  • Meanwhile, bring lightly salted water to a boil in a saucepan.
  • Then you can add the kohlrabi and take them out again after about 20 to 30 minutes, depending on their size.
  • To cook the kohlrabi into pieces, you should also remove the roots and leaves here.
  • Then peel the kohlrabi and cut the vegetables into random pieces. Also remove existing woody areas.
  • Boil the kohlrabi in a little salted water for about 15 minutes.
  • Now the cooked kohlrabi is ready to eat.
