How to prepare a curry sauce with cola
The perhaps unusual ingredient cola gives the curry sauce a certain sweetness and is ideal as a sauce base. To prepare it, you need 400 ml of cola and 400 ml of ketchup, 5 tablespoons of applesauce, lemon juice, and, for seasoning, curry powder, fresh ginger, Worcestershire sauce, and Tabasco.
- Add the cola and a saucepan and simmer until reduced to about 100ml. Then remove the pot from the stove.
- Now stir the ketchup and applesauce into the sauce.
- Season with about 3 tablespoons curry powder and 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce.
- Grate the ginger and add it to the sauce. Vary the amount according to taste.
- Finally, squeeze a lemon and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice to the curry sauce. If you like it a little spicier, flavor the sauce with a dash of Tabasco.

Once you have cooked the curry sauce, you can enjoy it with various dishes.
- Bratwurst: Serve the curry sauce with the bratwurst or the vegetarian version. Fry the sausage, cut it into small pieces, pour the sauce over it and sprinkle with curry powder – the popular classic is ready.
- French fries: A curry sauce with cola is also ideal for serving with French fries. Whether it’s fries made from potatoes, sweet potatoes, or parsnips – be creative.
- Burger: A bit unusual, but the curry sauce also goes perfectly with the burger. Garnish it with fresh ingredients such as onions, tomatoes, and mushrooms and you have a delicious burger variant.
