Does Scrambled Eggs Make You Slim?

Scrambled eggs in the morning could help a diet. You can find out what’s behind the slimming secret here.

A team of researchers led by Tanja Kral, an associate professor in the Department of Health Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania, has now found that a high-protein breakfast – such as eggs – is more filling than a high-carbohydrate diet.

For the study, the scientists had 40 eight- to ten-year-old children have to breakfast. There were three meals to choose from: eggs, oatmeal, and cornflakes. The children then let off steam on the playground before having lunch together. This routine was repeated once a week for three consecutive weeks. The entire breakfast should be consumed each time. The little ones could decide for themselves how much they wanted to eat at lunchtime. In the morning they answered questions like, “How hungry are you?” and “How much do you think you can eat right now?”. The parents recorded all the results in a food diary for control purposes.

A breakfast with eggs saves up to 70 calories

The result: A breakfast consisting of eggs (scrambled eggs, wholemeal toast, peach pieces, milk) led to a lower energy intake at lunch. This saved a total of 70 calories.

Moderately active children ages eight to ten should consume between 1,600 and 1,800 calories a day. Exceeding the limit can quickly lead to excessive weight gain and obesity.

“I’m not surprised that the egg dish was the most filling breakfast,” Kral said. “But what surprises me is that the egg at breakfast didn’t make the kids feel full, even though they ate less lunch afterward.”

Why eggs make you slim

Eggs provide almost 13 grams of protein and less than one gram of carbohydrate per 100 grams. The 11 grams of fat per 100 grams also contribute to satiety. The blood sugar level rises only slightly and ravenous hunger attacks cannot occur in the first place. Eggs also provide us with a lot of valuable substances that accelerate fat loss. More reasons why eggs make you slim:

  • Eggs contain a lot of unsaturated fatty acids – the “good fats”. These promote satiety. This makes it easier to resist snacks in between and is more frugal with subsequent meals.
  • Most of the protein is not in the egg white but in the yolk. Eggs contain all the important amino acids. They also help prevent the yo-yo effect and build muscles and tendons.
  • The important nutrient choline in eggs protects fats from building up in the liver and transports them to the parts of the body where they are needed. This accelerates fat loss.
  • A breakfast egg contains a lot of B vitamins, especially B2, B6, and B12, which boost the metabolism. Because: You burn fats and carbohydrates and convert them into energy.
