Here are five eating habits that hinder your weight loss goals if you’re trying to lose weight fast, according to Matthias.

“Rapid weight loss can lead to dehydration, slow down your metabolism, and you may actually lose muscle instead of fat,” says Lauren Manaker, a US-based dietitian.

What habits prevent you from losing weight:

You consume too few calories.

Cutting back on how much you eat probably means you’re drastically reducing the number of calories you consume, which can put your body into starvation mode.

“Your body can change its metabolism when not getting enough food, which can be detrimental to your weight in the long run,” Manaker said.

You don’t drink enough water

Trying to lose weight quickly can also harm your hydration efforts.

“Some people mistake thirst for hunger and eat when they are really thirsty. This can lead to consuming too many calories, which can lead to weight gain,” says the expert.

You rely on weight loss supplements without changing your diet

Weight loss supplements are ineffective and dangerous when it comes to losing weight fast. Especially if you rely solely on them to lose those extra pounds.

“Supplements are not a magic weight loss tool. Taking supplements without changing your diet will most likely not lead to the desired results,” says the nutritionist.

You drink too much alcohol

Some people believe that if they eat less, they can drink more alcohol, but this approach is detrimental to your weight loss efforts. Alcohol can contain empty calories, which can lead to weight gain.

In addition, drinking too much alcohol can reduce inhibitions, which can lead to people making unhealthy choices when choosing what they eat.

You give up everything fatty

Most people think that “low-fat” foods can be the key to fast weight loss. But if you completely eliminate fats, you’ll actually miss out on their weight loss benefits.

“Over the years, fats have gotten a bad reputation, but healthy fats like olive oil and avocados can help people feel full and help them achieve their weight loss goals,” says Manaker.
