Fruit or Fruit Juice – Which is Better for Children

If you give your child juice, they won’t get a huge amount of the healthy components contained in the fruit pulp. And it usually remains in the juicer.

Famous pediatrician Yevgeny Komarovsky named a gross mistake that parents often make. In particular, they give their children fruit juices instead of fruit. However, nutritionists around the world do not have such a recommendation.

According to the doctor, it is healthier for a child to eat five apples than to drink juice made from them. The fact is that if a child is given juice, he or she will not receive a huge amount of useful components that are contained in the fruit pulp.

“I will surprise you, but children should not be given fruit juices. Fruit or fruit puree is a much better choice for them,” the pediatrician said.

“Although children themselves prefer to drink juice rather than bite into an apple. But for intestinal health, I strongly recommend replacing fruit juice with whole fruit. If the child does not know how to eat fruit yet, you can give him mashed potatoes,” Komarovsky advised.

The only exception when it is advisable to give a child juice rather than a whole fruit is if the child is sick.

“If a child has SARS and needs to drink a lot, then apple juice diluted 2 times is a great substitute for any dropper. If the child agrees to drink it, then you can give it to him. But this is only in the case of ARVI,” the pediatrician explained.
