Grill the egg on a skewer
This recipe is great fun, especially for kids.
- All you need is an egg and a thin branch. Remove the bark from the branch and sharpen one end.
- Now carefully drill a small hole in the top and bottom of the egg. The hole must not be larger than the branch is thick. Gently place the egg on the branch and hold it some distance over the grill.
- It’s even more fun over a campfire, of course. After about a quarter of an hour, the egg should be cooked and can be peeled.
- If it’s not just for the little ones, you can stick hard-boiled eggs on a skewer, season them and place them directly on the grill.
Grilled muffin eggs
You have to be less careful when preparing for this Gillei variant.
- In this recipe, muffin tins serve as a grilling dish for the eggs.
- Oil the muffin tin and crack an egg into each cavity. Season right away with a little salt and pepper.
- Place the muffin tin on the heated grill. After about two minutes, the eggs are ready.
Scotch eggs – grilled instead of fried
Scotch eggs are actually fried. You can also prepare the delicacy on the closed grill.
- For this Scottish dish, first boil four eggs until soft, about four minutes.
- While the eggs are cooling, mix 200g ground beef with 1/2 teaspoon each of salt, pepper, chili flakes, and paprika powder.
- Once you have kneaded everything well, divide the minced meat into four equal parts and shape them into flat cakes.
- Place a peeled, soft-boiled egg on each of these flatbreads and wrap the mince around it. Finally, sprinkle a teaspoon of paprika powder over the meatballs.
- The eggs in the minced meat coat are now placed on the grill with the lid closed for about 30 minutes. Turn the eggs once halfway through the cooking time.
