Health Benefits of Caffeine: What Deadly Disease Does Coffee Fight Against

A study involving 217,883 participants analyzed the relationship between caffeine consumption and the risk of developing kidney stones. Caffeine is the most commonly consumed stimulant in the world, which is not surprising given its ability to increase wakefulness, relieve fatigue, and improve concentration and attention.

But it can also have a positive impact on your overall health, reducing the likelihood of developing life-changing diseases.


Caffeine has been shown to have some effect on the incidence of oral and throat cancer. In a study of more than 900,000 participants, men and women who drank four or more cups of coffee a day had a 49 percent lower risk of dying from oral cancer compared to those who did not drink coffee or drank it only occasionally.

It has also been linked to protection against breast cancer recurrence, and reduced risk of prostate cancer and endometrial cancer.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus

One long-term study found that increasing coffee consumption by more than one cup a day over a four-year period could reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by one percent.

It also showed that those who reduced their daily consumption by more than one cup of coffee had a 17 percent higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

However, the reasons for the link remained unclear. It may be due to reduced insulin sensitivity, which means that the body does not use the insulin it produces efficiently.

A study conducted on a sample of more than 34,000 women in Sweden who did not suffer from the cardiovascular disease had a 22-25% lower risk of stroke if they drank more than one cup of coffee a day.

Moreover, the study showed that coffee consumption in general may be associated with an increased risk of stroke.

Kidney stones

However, the studies have not been conducted on a large scale, so more research is needed to determine if there is a link between kidney stones and caffeine consumption.

It is also often associated with conditions such as insomnia, and depression, and there is some evidence that it can cause fertility problems in women.
