The expert advises not to drink coffee and alcohol on an empty stomach, as well as to give up chewing gum and not to get into conflicts. It has long been known that morning is the most important time of the day. How you spend it, the day will be like that. However, not everyone knows how to meet the day ahead in the right way in order to be in shape later.

Indian nutritionist Pooja Mahija named five bad habits on an empty stomach. Mahija urged them to stop drinking tea and coffee immediately after waking up. “Think twice before drinking tea or coffee when you wake up in the morning. A cup of coffee can greatly increase the level of acidity in the stomach,” the nutritionist emphasized.

In addition, the expert advises not to drink alcohol on an empty stomach, as alcohol without food instantly enters the bloodstream and causes severe intoxication. Another bad habit, according to Mahija, is chewing gum on an empty stomach.

“Chewing gum provokes the secretion of additional gastric juice, which negatively affects the mucous membrane of an empty stomach and can provoke inflammation and ulcers,” Puja argued. The expert also does not recommend going grocery shopping before a person has eaten.

“Hungry people not only buy much more food than they need but also tend to choose more high-calorie foods,” she says.

Mahija also urges not to get into arguments on an empty stomach. The reason is that hungry person has lower blood sugar levels, which means they are more prone to emotions. Therefore, it’s better to have a little snack before tackling important matters.
