How to make yeast from bread


  • Rye black bread – 500 g.
  • Sour milk or warm water – 500 g.
  • Sugar – 3 tbsp.
  • Raisins – 2 tbsp.

Cut the rye bread into small pieces and mix with other ingredients. Place in a warm place and let ferment for a day. Strain the mass through a sieve. Then leave the resulting brew for another 2 hours in the heat. After that, you can make dough from sourdough.

How to make yeast from potatoes

  • Small potatoes – 2 pcs.
  • Salt – 1 tsp.
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp.
  • Warm water – 1 tbsp.

Peel potatoes, rinse well, and grate them on a fine grater. Add water, salt, and sugar. Leave the mixture for 12 hours, strain it, and make dough on its basis.

How to make yeast from beer

  • Beer can – 1 piece.
  • Water – 1 cup.
  • Flour – 1 cup.
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp.

Dilute a cup of flour in a glass of warm water and leave for 6 hours. Then add beer and sugar. Stir and leave in a warm place. Store in a tightly closed jar without refrigeration.

How to make raisin yeast

  • Raisins – 100 grams.
  • Warm water.
  • Sugar – 2 tbsp.

Raisins are washed and placed in a glass bottle. Pour warm water and add sugar. Tie the neck with 4 layers of gauze and put it in a warm place. After 5 days the fermentation process will begin and you can separate the yeast.

What to make with yeast

Yeast is a necessary component of bread. We published a recipe for homemade bread earlier. Also, yeast is included in the recipe for cakes. In 100 g of sourdough, mix 200 ml of water, 350 g of flour, a pinch of salt, and sugar. Make an elastic dough for patties and leave it in a warm place for 2 hours. This dough can be used to make fried or baked patties.

Yeast dough can be used to make puff pastries. Add 2 cups of warm milk or kefir to the sourdough and leave for 5 minutes. Then add 4 cups of flour, 2 eggs, a pinch of salt, and a tablespoon each of sugar and vegetable oil. After this, the pancakes can be fried immediately.

The yeast will also be useful in making homemade pizza. Heat the sourdough, add 200 grams of flour, a little salt and sugar, and a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Leave the dough for 1.5 hours. Then roll out the dough thinly, put in the filling, and bake the pizza for 20 minutes.
