Kiwi Prolongs Youth, But Harms Patients With Stomach Ulcers: What are the Benefits and Harms of the Fruit

The exotic kiwi is a favorite fruit for many people. And this is logical – it contains many useful substances.

The beneficial properties of kiwi are primarily due to the high content of antioxidants, which support the health of the cardiovascular system, slow down the processes of chronic inflammation in the body, protect cells from damage, and prolong the youthfulness and activity of the body.

What are the benefits of kiwi?

Kiwi contains a small amount of sugar and fat and is low in calories. On average, one large kiwi contains only 55-60 kcal, while a medium-sized kiwi can contain about 7 g of sugar, which is only 1/3 of the amount of sugar in 1 apple.

  • Due to the high content of vitamins C, A, and E, the fruit effectively boosts immunity, which allows it to be used as a prophylactic agent for vitamin deficiency and to prevent cancer.
  • Due to the presence of folic acid, it is indispensable for women during the period of childbearing.
  • The increased content of magnesium and potassium has made the fruit a component of a therapeutic diet prescribed for cardiovascular diseases. Its bioactive nutrients maintain water and salt balance and prevent the formation of atherosclerotic plaques and the development of hypertension.
  • The beneficial properties of kiwi also include the ability to maintain normal hemoglobin levels. Therefore, it is recommended for people suffering from iron deficiency anemia.
  • The actinidine contained in the composition promotes the active breakdown of fats and reduces blood clotting and the risk of thrombosis.

Who should not eat kiwi?

Do not forget that kiwi is an allergenic product with a high acid content. Excessive consumption leads to an oversaturation of vitamin C.

Ulcers and high acidity are absolute contraindications to eating kiwi. You need to be careful with gastritis.

Due to the laxative effect, kiwi should not be eaten with indigestion and diarrhea. People with kidney disease should not abuse it either, as the high content of minerals and water can cause disruption of the urinary system, causing some discomfort.
