So far, the kiwi is best known for its green flesh. But there is a new breed: in addition to the green kiwi, which is typical for us, there is now the yellow kiwi, also called Kiwi Gold. Their shell is smoother and it is slightly more elongated. The flesh is golden yellow. The cultivation of the yellow kiwi is now also taking place in Europe, for example in Italy and France.

The varieties also differ in taste: while the green kiwi tastes slightly sour, the yellow has a comparatively very sweet aroma. Its taste is reminiscent of mangoes, melons, and peaches. If the yellow kiwi is too sweet for you, you can eat the peel as well – the sweetness is weakened a bit.

With regard to the nutrients contained, the green kiwi and kiwi gold hardly differ: both are good suppliers of vitamin C with 45 milligrams per 100 grams and also provide vitamin K and a lot of potassium.
