The lime (or Limone or Limonelle) is usually a little smaller than its relative, the lemon. In addition, their shell shines in an intense green color. For once, the green color of the skin has nothing to do with the degree of ripeness. When buying, you should make sure that the shell is as thin as possible, green, shiny and not brittle or woody.
Origin
Brazil, Mexico.
Taste
In terms of taste, however, it is less acidic and its aroma is more intense than that of lemon.
Use
Limes are used like lemons. They are processed in both sweet and savory dishes, e.g. B. desserts, salads, or fish. Their juice is often used to make cocktails such as our margarita, long drinks and punches. Sliced, they often serve as decoration.
Storage
At room temperature, limes can be stored for about one to two weeks. When stored in a cool place (not less than 5°C!), ripe fruits can be kept for a few weeks.
