Make lentil sprouts yourself – that’s how it works
Sprouted lentils have a pleasant nutty taste and are very crunchy, so they go well with many salads, for example. You can make the lentil sprouts yourself in a seed jar. You can also use a mason jar or even a special germinator for this.
- Before you germinate the sprouts, let the lentils soak for about twelve hours.
- To germinate the lentils, you can use simple sprout houses, which you can get from specialist retailers for around 15 euros.
- Distribute the sprouts among the individual bowls. But be careful not to put too many seedlings in the trays. The rungs need air.
- The germination process takes three to four days. Meanwhile, the sprouts must neither dry up nor become moldy. Therefore, rinse the shells three times a day with lukewarm water.
- Make absolutely sure that no water remains in the bowls. The lentil seedlings must be kept moist, but not in water.
- If you only have a little time, you can also use a germinator that automatically waters the sprouts.
