Seitan: The Vegan Meat Substitute Is So Healthy

Seitan – that’s in the “vegetable meat”

Seitan consists of water and wheat flour from which gluten is “washed out”. The meat substitute is easier to make if you use gluten flour right away.

  • 100 grams of seitan contain about 2 grams of fat. Of these, 0.3 grams are saturated fat, 0.8 grams are polyunsaturated fat and 0.2 grams is monounsaturated fat. Cholesterol does not contain seitan.
  • Numerous minerals are present in 100 grams of seitan, with 29 milligrams of sodium, 100 milligrams of potassium, 142 milligrams of calcium, 5.2 milligrams of iron, and 25 milligrams of magnesium. By the way, we present other iron-rich foods in another article.
  • In addition, there are 14 grams of carbohydrates per 100 grams of vegan food, of which 0.6 grams is fiber. We explain the terms carbohydrates and fiber separately. Sugar is not contained in seitan.
