Shampion – a Real Apple

The Shampione is an autumn variety. The large and rather soft fruits are greenish-yellow and have a medium red body colour.

Origin

The variety was created in the Czech Republic in 1960 as a cross between Golden Delicious and Cox Orange.

Season

The schampion is ripe for consumption from the beginning of September to April.

Taste

Its flesh is sweet and, due to its low acidity, only slightly acidic and has a mild aroma.

Use

Shampion is very suitable for fresh consumption and as a kitchen apple for use in fruit salads or as a cake topping.

Storage

Apples of the Shampion variety can be stored for quite a while if well cooled. This is what characterizes most apple varieties. In contrast to many other fresh fruit varieties, apples retain their taste and consistency for a comparatively long time. It is important to create the best possible storage conditions. The room should be cool and dark and not too dry, because the humidity is also relevant for the shelf life of apples. The fruit and vegetable compartment in the refrigerator offers very good conditions. If you want to preserve the full aroma and the juicy bite for as long as possible, keep the apples of the Shampion variety in the refrigerator separately from other fruits.
