Scientists and experts have established a clear link between coffee and several important markers that are directly related to Alzheimer’s disease.
People who drink coffee every day have a lower and lower risk of developing cognitive impairment with age. This is due to the fact that amyloid proteins accumulate more slowly in their brains. The results of the study were published in the journal Frontiers of Aging Neuroscience.
Analyzing data from a large research project conducted for ten years by Edith Cowan University, experts have established a link between the drink and several important markers associated with Alzheimer’s disease.
“We found that participants with higher coffee consumption had a lower risk of developing mild cognitive impairment, which often precedes Alzheimer’s disease, and Alzheimer’s disease itself,” says the author of the article, Samantha Gardener, MD.
