The 5 Most Delicious Date Recipes

Delicious recipe: dates as a dip with cream cheese

This delicious date and cream cheese dip can also be used as a spread. This is how it is made:

  • You need: 150g dates (pitted), 300g cream cheese, 200g sour cream, 1 clove of garlic, 2 teaspoons curry powder, pepper, and salt to taste
  • First, the pitted dates must be crushed, either with a knife, with a hand blender, or with the Thermomix.
  • Then peel the garlic clove and put it in the garlic press. Then all the ingredients are mixed well.

Dates wrapped in bacon filled with goat cheese

Dates wrapped in bacon are a popular recipe. With a filling of goat’s cream cheese, you give the whole thing that special something.

  • Ingredients: 200g dates (pitted), 125g goat cream cheese, 200g bacon in strips
  • First, use a teaspoon to break off small pieces of the goat’s cream cheese and put it in the pitted dates as a filling. Then wrap a strip of bacon around each date and secure it with a toothpick.
  • You can then put the goat cheese dates in bacon in a casserole dish and bake at 180 degrees for around 15 minutes.
  • If you can’t wait, fry the dates in a pan with a little oil, this only takes 4-5 minutes.

Delicious dessert: date-banana dessert

You don’t need many ingredients to make a delicious dessert with dates.

  • You need: 5 bananas, 500g dates, 400ml cream
  • Slice the bananas and halve the dates. Place banana slices and pieces of dates alternately in dessert glasses.
  • Whip the cream, not quite stiff, and pour it over the fruit. Then put the jars in the fridge overnight so that the cream can soak in nicely.

Hearty date-saffron risotto

In addition to sweet desserts, you can also use dates to cook savory dishes, such as this delicious risotto.

  • Ingredients: 100g risotto rice, 100g dates (pitted), 1 onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 2 peppers, 1 small zucchini, 50ml white wine
  • Additionally as required: vegetable broth, saffron, cumin, salt, pepper, coriander, cinnamon
  • Finely dice the zucchini, peppers, onion, and garlic, and sauté the vegetables in a little butter.
  • Add the rice and after a short time deglaze with the white wine. Alternatively, you can use broth for this. In any case, add a little broth so that the rice can cook until soft.
  • Season the dish with cumin, lemon juice, saffron, cinnamon, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Finally, add the chopped dates.
  • Important: Always stir the risotto until the rice has absorbed all the liquid – this way nothing can burn. If the risotto is too dry, you can add a little broth or white wine.

Baked apples with marzipan and date filling

You can also spice up a classic with dates: Traditional baked apples.

  • Ingredients: 200g raw marzipan, 50g dates (pitted), 4 tablespoons chopped almonds, 4 baked apples, 2 tablespoons each of brown sugar and butter
  • Cut the dates into small cubes and halve and core the apples.
  • Then pluck apart the marzipan and mix it with the chopped almonds and dates.
  • Place the apples in an ovenproof dish and spread the marzipan mixture with the dates on top. Sprinkle with sugar and butter, pour in the apple juice, and bake at 180 degrees for 25 minutes.
  • Baked apples are often served with vanilla ice cream. In another article, you will find out how you can prepare vanilla ice cream at home without an ice cream maker.
