People who are overweight are advised to eat meat with greens and vegetables, says Tetiana Bocharova. It is better not to eat beef at the same time as dairy products. With such a meal, the body absorbs iron 50-60% worse due to calcium in cheese, milk, and yogurt. This argument should be taken into account when talking about the nutrition of children, pregnant women, and patients with anemia. It is better to drink meat with water or citrus juice. Meat is digested worse with starchy foods, but people who are overweight should eat it with vegetables and herbs.

“Meat and dairy products should not be neighbors in the same meal. The fact is that calcium, which is contained in cheeses, milk, and yogurt, impairs iron absorption by an average of 50-60 percent. This is important to consider when it comes to nutrition for children, pregnant women, and patients diagnosed with anemia.”

In addition, according to her, it is advisable to drink meat with a glass of citrus juice or water rather than coffee or tea. These drinks contain polyphenol tannin, which reduces iron absorption.

The doctor also added that the body perceives meat with bread, potatoes, corn, and pasta as worse. It can be consumed in this combination, but people suffering from overweight problems should eat meat with greens and vegetables.

“In addition, meat is digested worse with starchy foods: bread, potatoes, corn, pasta. This is an acceptable combination, but it should be avoided by those who are prone to obesity. Overweight patients are better off eating meat with greens and vegetables,” emphasized Bocharova.
