To strengthen the immune system, it is advisable to minimize the content of sweets in the diet. Nutritionist Margarita Makukha said that in order to strengthen the immune system in the fall, you should eat less sugar and more vegetables.

According to her, sugar negatively affects the balance of intestinal microflora. Namely, it acts as one of the most serious barriers to the penetration of harmful bacteria and viruses into the body. In this regard, to strengthen the immune system, it is advisable to minimize the content of sweets in the diet.

What vegetables should be eaten to strengthen the immune system:

  • lettuce
  • green beans
  • zucchini
  • bell peppers.

“They contain a lot of fiber, and it supports healthy immunity because it is food for beneficial intestinal bacteria,” the doctor says.

The nutritionist also noted that the diet in the fall should be varied because for the body and immune system to function properly, it is necessary to receive about 20 classes of phytonutrients, which are found in vegetables and fruits of different colors, 15 different vitamins and a large number of minerals on a daily basis.

Among the foods that can strengthen the immune system, the expert, first of all, singled out apples. Then pumpkin and cauliflower. All these foods can support immunity in the cold season.

In addition to proper nutrition in the fall, the doctor recommended not forgetting about good sleep, relaxation, adherence to the daily routine, and physical activity.
