The Nutritionist Explained Which Canned Foods Can Be Dangerous to Health and Why

When consuming a certain amount of canned food, it is very important to remember the large amount of salt in their composition, said dietitian Olena Solomatina.

Some canned foods contain an additive that provokes tumors, while others contain a substance that increases blood pressure. This was stated in a comment by nutritionist Olena Solomatina.

Canned foods can be divided into two types – home-made and industrial, the doctor says. Both options can lead to dangerous health consequences if eaten too much and too often. When eating homemade canned food, it is important to remember the large amount of salt in their composition, Solomatina noted.

“Canned foods contain a lot of salt, but few people think about it and limit themselves to a conditional piece of cucumber or tomato when they open a can. Excessive salt intake retains fluid in the body, which can cause high blood pressure in people who are prone to it, and even a hypertensive crisis. In addition, salt causes swelling and deterioration of metabolic processes,” she explained.
