Microwave: These tips will help you warm up
- If you are in a hurry, you should rather rely on small portions and, if necessary, use two plates in a row. As a rule, the rule of thumb applies: If the amount of food doubles, the preparation time also doubles.
- For best results when heating food, use the power of around 400 to 500 watts. The process takes a little longer, but the result is tastier and more germ-free.
- Especially with large portions, the food gets much too hot on the outside, although it is still cold in the middle. Simply form a ring on the plate by clearing the center of the plate. This means your food is heated evenly.
- If possible, use porcelain plates and vessels to heat up your food. Glass and microwaveable plastics can also be used. Metal and gold-rimmed plates should never be placed in the microwave.
- Note: The microwave’s electromagnetic waves primarily heat up the water, fat, and salts in the food. Dry foods such as bread rolls cannot, therefore, be reheated in the microwave.
