Who Shouldn’t Eat Rice – The Nutritionist’s Answer

The expert spoke about the benefits of rice and explained who shouldn’t eat this popular product and why.

Rice is a healthy dietary product. It is indispensable for losing weight, as the complex carbohydrates it contains keep you full for a long time and prevent you from overeating. But not everyone can eat rice – nutritionist Olga Korablyova told us who is contraindicated.

What are the benefits of rice?

Boiled rice contains 2.6 grams of fat and only 120 calories per 100 grams of the product. In addition, rice is rich in B vitamins, which are essential for the nervous system, potassium, manganese, zinc, magnesium, and phosphorus. It is a natural sorbent, rids the body of toxins, and prevents salt deposition.

Rice is easily digested and is useful for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by diarrhea and bloating. Liquid rice porridge with water is recommended for acute gastritis.

Who should not eat rice?

People prone to constipation should not eat rice more than twice a week. And in the case of obesity, the rice should be excluded altogether, as it will aggravate problems with intestinal motility.

“White rice is not recommended for diabetes: its glycemic index is 70, and the index of porridge with milk is already 75. A completely healthy person should eat no more than 200 grams of boiled rice per day,” Korablyova said.
