Why You Can’t Lose Weight: The Main Habit That Slows Down the Process is Named

Elena Kalen, an expert in the psychology of weight loss, told us why it is so difficult for us to part with those extra pounds. Sometimes the path to an ideal figure is unfairly long and thorny. And from the outside, it may seem that you are doing everything right. Perhaps the reason for this stagnation is some habits that have been preserved since childhood.

Why do your extra pounds not want to say goodbye to you, and last year’s jeans are still hopelessly small, said Elena Kalen, an expert in the psychology of weight loss, a consultant on nutritional support and a healthy lifestyle, on her Instagram.

What causes overweight

Elena Kalen noted that extra pounds are the result of excess food. According to her, being overweight does not depend on genetic predisposition or age. It’s all about our habits of acting and thinking in a certain way.

The main habit that prevents weight loss is the fact that a person eats when there is no hunger. Many people eat for various reasons, but not when they feel hungry. They eat because it’s breakfast time, they need to finish eating for the kids, because everyone around them is eating, and a million other reasons,” Kalen said.

In order to get rid of the habit of eating without hunger, you should:

  • Learn to eat intuitively.
  • Do not get distracted by other things and activities while eating.
  • Do not tolerate hunger, otherwise, metabolic processes will slow down and contribute to weight gain. That is why it is important to have something to eat with you to satisfy your hunger if necessary.

In order for the kilograms to melt away naturally, without harmful diets and strict restrictions, and for the result to be fixed for a long time, try to consciously eat and form new eating behaviors and habits.

When we start eating consciously, our psychological state changes as well. We listen to our body, and this causes changes in the body even on a physiological level. For example, the level of stress hormone decreases,” summarized Elena Kalen.
