Ingredients for 1 servings:
- 270 g sugar, brown
- 220 g butter
- 6 eggs, separated
- 350 g wheat flour (wholemeal)
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 tbsp kirsch or Calvados
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 6 tbsp milk
- 1 lemon(s), grated peel and some juice
- 1 kg apples, sour
- 1 handful of walnuts, chopped
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Cream the butter with sugar and egg yolks until fluffy. Gradually stir in the kirsch, vanilla sugar, and lemon zest, then stir in the flour sifted with baking powder and the milk. Finally, fold in the beaten egg whites. Peel the apples, cut them into wedges, and toss them in a little lemon juice. Spread the batter onto a greased and floured baking sheet and top with the apple slices. Sprinkle the chopped walnuts over the top and bake the cake at 180°C for about 30 minutes (test with a toothpick). Serve with whipped cream.
