Ingredients for 9 servings:
- 250 g quark
- 250 g flour
- 90 g sugar
- 6 tbsp milk
- 4 tbsp oil
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 30 g cooking chocolate or chocolate drops
- 30 g walnuts
- 1 tbsp spread (Ovomaltine cream/Nutella)
- 2 tbsp Flour, if needed
- Milk for brushing
Instructions
Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes
Preheat oven to 180°C (fan oven). Mix all ingredients of the basic recipe. Divide the dough into portions depending on how many filling variations you want to try. I tried three variations and divided my dough into three bowls. Add the filling to each bowl (either chocolate, walnuts, or Ovaltine cream/Nutella) and season to taste. Add a little more sweetener if desired. For the Ovaltine cream/Nutella version, add an extra 2 tablespoons of flour to the dough, otherwise the rolls will spread like cookies in the oven. Dust your hands with flour and shape the dough into small rolls. The mixture yields about 8-10 rolls and fits perfectly on a baking sheet. Brush the quark rolls with milk and bake in the oven for about 20 minutes.
