Ingredients for 2 servings:
- 1 small cauliflower
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 onion(s)
- 2 tbsp oil
- 375 g minced meat, mixed
- Pepper, white
- 30 g butter or margarine
- 20 g flour
- ¼ liter of milk
- 50 g cheese (Gouda), grated
- nutmeg
Instructions
Working time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 40 minutes
Clean and wash the cauliflower, divide it into florets, and cook in plenty of salted water for 15 minutes. Peel the onion and finely dice it. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onion and minced meat, seasoning with salt and freshly ground pepper. Arrange the cauliflower and minced meat in a casserole dish. Heat the fat in a saucepan. Add the flour and sauté. Deglaze with the milk and bring to a boil. (If you’d prefer a bit more sauce, feel free to add more milk. But be careful! The cauliflower absorbs a lot of water during cooking, which it then loses again during the gratin.) Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Stir some of the grated cheese into the sauce. Pour the sauce over the minced meat and cauliflower and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Bake in a preheated oven at 225°C, Gas Mark 4, for 10-15 minutes. I always serve it with boiled potatoes.
