Quick Cucumbers with Plenty of Onions – Homemade …

The perfect quick cucumbers with plenty of onions – homemade … recipe with a picture and simple step-by-step instructions.

  • 1 Cucumber
  • 2 Onions in rings
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow mustard seeds
  • 4 or more Allspice grains
  • 1 half a teaspoon Seasoned pepper
  • 1 half a teaspoon Red chilli flakes
  • 400 ml Water
  • 80 ml Vinegar essence
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Bay leaf
  1. Wash and peel the cucumber and cut into slices about 1/2 cm thick. Cut the onions into not too thin slices, then layer both in a bowl and pour the mustard seeds, allspice, pepper and chilli flakes over them.
  2. Bring the water with vinegar, sugar, salt and bay leaf to the boil, then simmer gently for 10 minutes and, cooled slightly, pour over the cucumbers. Cover and let rest in the refrigerator for at least a day (longer is better). Tastes good with fried potatoes or with bread and butter in the evening.
