For some people, bananas are part of breakfast as a fruit. Although it is considered very healthy, it has an extremely high fructose content. That actually speaks against the banana. There is a trick though.

Banana for breakfast – only in combination

Bananas are healthy, there’s no question about that. They primarily provide potassium and magnesium, but also vitamins from the B group. If you eat the banana pure for breakfast, there are some arguments against it.

  • Bananas have a very high fructose content. For athletes, they are therefore also an excellent source of quick energy before and after training.
  • However, an adverse effect occurs in the body when you eat a banana: the fructose it contains causes the insulin level to rise rapidly. This happens very quickly after consumption. And just as quickly, it drops again.
  • As a result of this process, you develop cravings. The side effect is that you are less able to concentrate and you become tired. Nothing that you would like to have after breakfast.
  • Another disadvantage is the digestion of the banana. The high fructose content causes fermenting digestion, conversion to alcohol takes place. The resulting acids put a strain on the body and set inflammatory processes in motion.
  • The solution to the problem lies in a well-chosen combination. Eat bananas for breakfast with healthy fats or certain spices to neutralize acid build-up.
  • Therefore, eat the banana in the morning accompanied by yoghurt or low-fat quark, sprinkle linseed or chia seeds over the banana or refine it with cinnamon or turmeric. In this way, the ingredients can be broken down and the insulin level remains constant. Cravings and tiredness are no longer a problem.
