Devil’s Sauce is an absolute classic that is often eaten with fondue. It is a cold sauce that has tomato and peppers as its base. I like to add onions, pointed peppers, and pickles to my devil’s sauce. These ingredients are chopped very finely, then tomato paste, sambal oelek, and tomato ketchup are added. Season everything with salt, pepper, and cane sugar – done.

You can simply roast whole spices in a pan, ground spices are best heated in a liquid such as water, wine, or vinegar. If a sauce recipe includes water, you can use broth instead to add extra flavor to the sauce.
