Make Garlic Paste Yourself: Here’s How

Make your own garlic paste – you need that

With the help of healthy garlic you give many dishes the finishing touch, but who still feels like peeling the garlic cloves and reaching for the garlic press in the evening? With a jar of pre-made garlic paste, this problem will take care of itself. You only have to prepare the paste in a quiet moment – but don’t worry, you don’t need a lot of time for the homemade garlic paste.

  • You hardly need any ingredients for your homemade garlic paste. For the basic version, you only need garlic bulbs and good cooking oil, such as rapeseed or sunflower oil. It is important that the oil tastes neutral – i.e. does not have a strong taste of its own, such as linseed oil. A little bit of salt is also added. If children aren’t eating, a little white wine goes well with the paste instead.
  • If you have enough time and feel like experimenting, try something more exotic, for example with ginger and/or mango. Your imagination is the limit.
  • Tip: One or two original jars with homemade garlic paste are always a welcome gift. Maybe a nice idea for the next barbecue party.

This is how your homemade garlic paste will be perfect

Since the homemade garlic paste keeps for quite a long time – at least in theory – it is worth making a slightly larger quantity of the delicious seasoning right away. For hygienic reasons, however, it is advisable to use several smaller glasses instead of one or two large ones.

  • It is best to use fresh garlic for your garlic paste. For all other ingredients, also make sure that they are of good quality. The ingredients directly affect the flavor of your garlic paste.
  • For two to three small glasses of garlic pasta, you need about two garlic bulbs and 500 to 600 milliliters of cooking oil. Then add about a teaspoon of salt or alternatively about 100 milliliters of dry white wine.
  • First, peel the garlic cloves. If you find any bad spots, remove them. After you have done that, the main work is already almost done for you. Proven kitchen helpers do the rest for you.
  • The blender is ideal for pureeing the peeled garlic cloves. Alternatively, you can use the stirring stick.
  • Put all the ingredients – peeled garlic cloves, cooking oil, and the white wine or salt – in the blender and let the machine process everything into a paste. Meanwhile, use the time to rid your hands of the garlic smell.
  • Once the garlic paste is the right consistency, pour the paste into small jars and that’s about it.
