Cucumber brine for baking – cookie recipe

Cucumber brine liquid with seasonings, spices, and vinegar can be used to make delicious baked goods. Our mothers and grandmothers know that 30 years ago when there was a shortage of certain products, they had to get out of the situation somehow – they tried to find a substitute. That’s how brine became an ingredient for dough, which can be used to make delicious cookies.

You will need:

  • cucumber brine – 1 cup;
  • sugar – 1 cup;
  • flour – 3 cups;
  • sunflower oil – 100 ml;
  • soda – 1 tsp.

Mix all the ingredients, knead the dough, and leave it in a warm place for 20 minutes. Then roll out, cut out the shape of cookies, and bake in an oven for 20 minutes at 180 ° C.

Cucumber brine – marinade recipe

You can safely marinate meat in cucumber brine – all you need to do is to pour the brine over a chosen piece of beef, chicken, or pork, and add spices and herbs. Leave the meat to marinate for 8 hours, and then roast on a fire or grill.

You can also pickle grated carrots or sliced onions with brine – this method will come in handy if you need to get spicy pickled vegetables quickly. Slice carrots and onions put them in brine, and leave them in the fridge for 1 hour. If you want the taste of the vegetables to be a little softer, then add the sunflower oil. Such an appetizer can be used as a supplement to second courses or to a kebab.

What to do with the remaining brine if you need to wash the dishes

Cucumber brine copes well with old dirt that can not be washed in the dishwasher or by hand. For example, you can use cucumber vinegar to clean off a grill grate or tray that has bits of food stuck to it. Pour the brine over the dirty surface, leave it on for 30 minutes, and then scrub with a brush.

Useful tip: You can also use brine to wash copper dishes without damaging them in the dishwasher or using aggressive detergents.
