Types of air conditioners
When searching for the appropriate split system, take into account the type of installation. In the domestic environment, appliances are used:
- Wall-mounted. Suitable for apartments, cottages, and other small rooms. They support functions of heating and air filtration. Create a favorable microclimate in rooms with a small area.
- Cassette type. Suitable for cottages, spacious halls, and hallways. Provide instant and uniform cooling. Installation of cassette systems is accompanied by difficulties and is carried out in the initial stages of repair.
- Mobile. Intended for summer houses and small rooms. In the switched-on condition issue a characteristic noise. They do not demand professional installation.
- Modern split systems are working on the basis of generators of intermittent voltage. They are reliable and economical devices, providing smooth cooling.
Optimal capacity
While choosing an air conditioner, take into consideration the size of a room. The more spacious a room is, the more power is required. You should choose the device at the rate of 1 KW per each 10 sq.m.
If the height of ceilings in a house is more than 3 meters, you should provide a power reserve. Also, consider the number of people in the room. For crowded areas, increase the figure at the rate of 200 watts per person.
You will need more power if the windows of the apartment face the sunny side or if you live on the upper floors. Consult a consultant before you make a purchase. He will calculate the values according to a specially developed formula.
Functionality
Determine in advance what the important modes of operation are. Popular functions of air conditioners include:
- Heating. Suitable for early fall, when the heating hasn’t been turned on yet and it’s already cold in the apartment. Standard air conditioners can withstand frosts up to 7 degrees.
- Dehumidification. Allows you to endure the exhausting heat and prevents the spread of mold. It is considered a standard feature and is on most models.
- Ventilation. Allows air movement in the room. Includes only the indoor component of the system.
- Air Filtration. Mesh in the air conditioner prevents dust, feathers, and poplar down from getting in. Requires regular cleaning.
- Ionization. Saturates the air with charged particles, provides a rush of energy, and improved immunity and well-being. Creates an environment reminiscent of a mountain microclimate.
- Oxygenation. Supplies the room with fresh air. Some models retain nitrogen molecules, allowing oxygen to pass through.
