10-minute tofu with umami sauce

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 400 g natural tofu
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • some salt
  • possibly oil for frying
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp white wine or white balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp date syrup, agave syrup or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp ginger powder
  • 2 tsp cornstarch
  • 30 ml water
  • some sesame, optional
  • some chili sauce, optional

Instructions

Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 5 minutes; Total time approx. 20 minutes

simple, quick and vegan

Pat the tofu dry with a kitchen towel and cut into 1-2 cm cubes. Toss the cubes with cornstarch and salt to coat them. Fry the tofu in a pan with a little oil until crispy, or bake in the oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for 20 minutes. For the sauce, combine all the remaining ingredients and pour into the hot pan. Stir the tofu cubes until the sauce has thickened well and all the tofu cubes are coated.
