Stuffed pizza from the deep fryer

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 600 g flour
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 250 ml water, lukewarm
  • 5 tbsp oil
  • 400 g cheese (Gouda), grated
  • 300 g cooked ham
  • 2 small can mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 pinch(s) of oregano

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Rest time approx. 1 hour; Total time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes

For the dough, put the flour in a bowl. Add the salt, sugar, and oil. Dissolve the yeast in the water and pour it over the flour. Knead into a smooth dough. Let the dough rise until it has doubled in size. In the meantime, mix the grated cheese, the well-squeezed mushrooms, the finely chopped cooked ham, and the oregano in a bowl. Now take tennis ball-sized pieces of dough, roll them out into small round flatbreads, and cover one half with the filling. Fold them over and seal the edges well. I always twist the edges of the dough like a dreadlock; it holds together really well. Now fry the dumplings in hot oil in the deep fryer until golden brown.
