Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 kg swede(s)
- 40 g fat
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 250 ml water
- n. B. Salt
- 10 g flour
- some water
Instructions
Working time approx. 15 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 40 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes
Wash and peel the beets, wash again briefly, and cut into small slices. Brown the sugar in the fat until caramelized. Add the beets and sauté. Add a little of the liquid and the salt. Cover and sauté over moderate heat until tender. Add more liquid if necessary. Bind the vegetables shortly before the end of the cooking time, if desired, with a flour dough (mix flour with water until lump-free and then mix with the vegetables). Bring back to a boil. Season to taste. Cooking time for the beets: 30–50 minutes, depending on the age and size of the pieces.
