  • 125 g powdered sugar
  • some food coloring, red

Beat the fat, sugar, and vanilla sugar with the whisk attachment of a hand mixer until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Mix the flour and baking powder, then stir into the batter along with the milk and lemon zest. Using a tablespoon of the batter, place small mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Bake in a preheated oven (electric oven 200°C/gas mark 3) until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack. Mix the powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Take 2 tablespoons of icing and color it pink with a few drops of food coloring. First, spread the white icing on the smooth surface of the American cookies and let it dry. Place the pink icing in a freezer bag, snip off a small tip, and pipe the icing in threads over the pastry. Let it dry. Makes approx. 20 cookies. Baking time: 15-20 minutes.
