Mustard pears

Ingredients for 1 servings:

  • 1 kg pear(s)
  • 125 ml water
  • 225 g sugar
  • 250 ml vinegar, 10%
  • 1 cinnamon stick(s)
  • 40 g mustard seeds
  • 40 g horseradish, diced

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 15 minutes; Total time approx. 45 minutes

Peel the pears, halve them, and core them. Bring water, vinegar, sugar, and cinnamon to a boil. Sauté the pear halves until slightly softened. They should still retain some of their bite. Drain in a sieve, then layer them in a stoneware pot or large jar. Sprinkle the mustard seeds and horseradish cubes between the pears. Let the liquid cool, then pour over the pears. Loosely seal the jar and store in a cool place.
