Calamari rings in tomato sauce

Spread the love

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 4 handfuls of squid rings, unbreaded, frozen
  • 1 small onion(s)
  • 1 clove(s) garlic
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 tbsp, heaped salad herbs, dried
  • Salt and pepper, freshly ground
  • some honey or sugar beet syrup
  • possibly chili powder

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 20 minutes; Total time approx. 30 minutes

Simple and fast

Heat the oil in a pan, halve the onions, then slice them into strips, and fry them briefly with the finely chopped garlic. Add the thawed and squeezed-out calamari and fry well, adding a little salt. Then add the diced tomatoes from the can and let everything reduce slightly. Season with salt and pepper and the salad greens. Simmer for about 5 minutes over low heat, then season with beetroot syrup to counteract the acidity and chili, if desired. This goes very well with rice. If you prepare the rice at the same time and the calamari is thawed, it takes about half an hour and is truly delicious and impressive. Even beginners can do it!
