Pork strips with port wine

Spread the love

Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 600 g schnitzel or strips
  • 300 g mushrooms, from the can
  • 50 g ham, diced
  • 1 onion(s)
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ½ cup cream
  • salt and pepper
  • 150 ml port wine
  • Lard or butter

Instructions

Working time approx. 20 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 35 minutes; Total time approx. 55 minutes

Dice the onion and sauté with the ham cubes in hot lard or butter until translucent. Meanwhile, process the schnitzel into strips. Remove the onion and ham mixture from the pot and add a little more lard. Then fry the strips over very hot heat, then add the onion, ham, and bay leaf. Deglaze with the port wine. Then add the mushrooms with a little of the juice from the can. Now put a lid on the pot (important!) and simmer over low heat until the meat is nice and tender. Then add the cream and season with salt and pepper. Finally, thicken slightly with sauce thickener or flour. Spätzle tastes best with this.
