Make Ice Cubes Yourself – Without a Mold

Would you like to serve ice-cold lemonade or drinks and don’t have an ice cube tray? No problem, we’ll show you how to make ice cubes yourself without a mold.

  • Ice cubes in the drink not only rattle, they also ensure ice-cold enjoyment.
  • You can make ice cubes yourself even without an ice cube mold.
  • All you need for crushed ice is a freezer bag or bowl – frozen fruit adds a fruity, icy note.

A cool drink is still the best refreshment on hot summer days. Ice cubes are a must. And they are quick to make yourself – even without an ice cube tray!

Homemade crushed ice (with freezer bag or bowl)

For small ice cubes or your own crushed ice, simply fill a freezer bag with water so that it is about two-thirds full and tie it tightly. Then place flat in the freezer for at least two hours.

Take out the frozen bag and place it on a work surface. Now all you have to do is hit the block of ice with a small hammer or a sturdy glass until small pieces come off. You already have your own crushed ice for cocktails or lemonade.

You can also make ice cubes or crushed ice yourself with a flat bowl. Fill the switch two to three centimeters with water and put it in the freezer. After removing, tilt and wrap the block of ice in a tea towel. Either hit this against the edge of the countertop or hammer it with a hammer until you have made small ice cubes.

Make ice cubes yourself: the trick with the box of chocolates

An empty box of chocolates or candy packaging with individual chambers can be reused excellently – for homemade ice cubes. Simply fill the box with water and place in the freezer to freeze.

After a few hours you have made ice cubes in beautiful shapes. Tip: You can also freeze juices such as orange juice in the molds.

Freezing water in the glass

The most convenient option for an ice-cold drink: simply add a few centimeters of water to the glasses that you later want to serve with ice cubes. Make sure, however, that you only freeze thick-walled glasses that can be frozen. You then simply pour the drink onto the layer of ice on the bottom of the glass.

If you don’t make ice cubes but still want an ice-cold refreshment, you can use fruit. To do this, buy either frozen fruit such as frozen raspberries or a berry mix and fill the glasses with the water or cocktail.

Alternatively, you can freeze fresh berries or lemon slices yourself and put them in the glasses just before serving. You should definitely buy organic lemons to avoid drinking synthetic pesticides.
