Grandma's Best Apple Pie

Total Time1 hour 45 minutes
Servings: 8 people

Ingredients

  • 500 g Flour
  • 250 ml Milk lukewarm
  • 50 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 21 g Yeast fresh
  • 75 g Butter
  • 1 piece Egg
  • 6 piece Medium organic apple
  • 200 g Ground hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 200 g Butter
  • 500 g Flour
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 1 Tl Cinnamon

Instructions

  • yeast dough. Sieve the flour with a pinch of salt into a bowl. Warm the milk and sugar slightly and dissolve the butter in them. Add the yeast and stir until the yeast has dissolved.
  • Now add the milk-yeast mixture and the egg to the flour. Knead all ingredients into a smooth dough. Cover and let the dough rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour.
  • Streusel: Knead all the ingredients to make a crumble. Note: Grandma's crumbles were much more voluminous.
  • Peel the apples, remove the core and cut into small cubes. Put the cubes in lemon water so that they don't turn brown while you wait.
  • Line a baking tray with baking paper or grease it. Knead the yeast dough well again and roll it out on the baking sheet.
  • Mix the ground hazelnuts with 2 tablespoons of sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and stir with the apples. Pour the apple mixture onto the dough and spread the crumble over it.
  • Bake the cake in the preheated oven (top / bottom heat) at 200 degrees on the 2nd rack from the bottom for about 35 - 45 minutes.
