Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 1 head of white cabbage or savoy cabbage, medium-sized
- 1 kg minced meat
- 1 small onion(s), diced
- 1 m.-sized egg(s)
- possibly salt and pepper
Instructions
Working time approx. 45 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 hour 30 minutes; Total time approx. 2 hours 15 minutes
with white cabbage or savoy cabbage
Remove the outer leaves from the white cabbage or savoy cabbage, chop roughly or finely, depending on your preference, and blanch, then drain. Mix the minced meat with the egg and onions (in our part of Hesse, the minced meat is already seasoned). Season with salt and pepper if desired. I use a cabbage dish that I place in a bain-marie, but you can also use a casserole dish with a lid and then put it in the oven. Fill the dish layer by layer with cabbage and minced meat, then simmer in a bain-marie for about 90 minutes or cook in the oven at 180°C with fan. Serve with boiled potatoes and hollandaise sauce with a spoonful of mustard.
