Honey-Apple Casserole

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 500 g apples, sour
  • 6 eggs
  • 120 g honey
  • 250 g quark
  • ½ pack of baking powder
  • 100 g semolina
  • 1 tsp cinnamon, to taste

Instructions

Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 45 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes

First, peel the apples, quarter them, and slice them thinly. Toss with cinnamon, if desired. Then separate the eggs. Combine the egg yolks with honey and butter. Combine the baking powder and semolina. Combine both mixtures with the quark until a smooth batter forms. Then beat the egg whites until stiff and fold into the mixture. Butter a baking dish and fill it layer by layer with the quark and honey mixture and the apples. Bake the casserole in an oven preheated to 170°C (top/bottom heat) for about 45 minutes, until the top layer is browned and the mixture smells delicious.
