Ingredients for 3 servings:

  • 200 g quark, lactose-free
  • 100 g sugar
  • 6 tbsp milk, lactose-free
  • 8 tbsp vegetable cream or neutral oil
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 8 g salt
  • 1 egg(s) or 1 egg yolk
  • 400 g spelt flour (type 630)
  • 1 pack of cream of tartar baking powder
  • n. B. Cream, lactose-free for spreading
  • Granulated sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

Working time approx. 10 minutes; Rest period approx. 30 days; Cooking/baking time approx. 1 day 6 hours; Total time approx. 31 days 6 hours 10 minutes

Combine the quark, sugar, milk, oil, vanilla sugar, salt, and egg. Mix the flour and baking powder together, gradually adding them and kneading everything together. Then let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to approximately 170-180°C (top/bottom heat). Knead the dough again and divide it into three equal pieces, which you then braid. Brush with cream and sprinkle with sugar. Bake on the middle rack for approximately 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
