Ingredients for 4 servings:
- 600 g minced meat, mixed
- 1 egg(s)
- 5 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 1 handful of oat flakes
- 3 cm mustard, medium hot
- Salt
- pepper
- Maggi
- oil
- 1 class can/n tomatoes, small chopped
- 1 pack of tomato paste
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 2 tbsp basil
- 200 g cheese, grated
Instructions
Working time approx. 30 minutes; Cooking/baking time approx. 30 minutes; Total time approx. 1 hour
Place the minced meat in a bowl. Season with salt, pepper, mustard, and Maggi to taste. Add the egg, breadcrumbs, and oatmeal. Knead all ingredients well with your hands. Moisten your hands with water and form the minced meat into small balls. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the meatballs over medium heat, turning occasionally. Place the cooked meatballs in a casserole dish. Leave any remaining cooking juices in the pan. Add the tomatoes and tomato paste to the pan. Season with salt, pepper, and maple syrup and heat through, stirring occasionally. Add the basil. Pour the tomato sauce over the meatballs in the casserole dish. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius (top and bottom heat) on the middle rack for 30 minutes. Spätzle (noodles) or rice are suitable as a side dish. Served with bread (focaccia, ciabatta), it also makes a great starter or snack.
