Very tasty and worth a little sin
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Chop the chocolate and melt it together with the butter over a hot water bath and let it cool slightly. In the meantime, put the flour, sugar, eggs, baking powder and vanilla sugar in a bowl and mix together on low heat. Now add the melted chocolate and mix everything together. Pour the batter into a pan lined with baking paper and bake for about 30 minutes. It’s best to use a toothpick test to check whether the batter is baked through. In the meantime, you can prepare the mascarpone cream and the fruit. For the cream, beat the mascarpone, sugar and cream together. If you like it very sweet, you can add a little more sugar here, but I find 4 tablespoons are perfectly sufficient. Chill the cream again until you are ready to layer it. Now wash, hull and slice the strawberries. You can also use other fruits of your choice. I have used thickened sweet cherries and red fruit compote. Once the cake has cooled, crumble it. Now layer the individual components: first the mascarpone cream, then the fruit, and finally the cake crumbs. Depending on the size of the container, repeat until the container is completely full. Tip: Instead of baking the chocolate cake yourself, you can also use store-bought chocolate cake.
